Bright Lights, Big City

This term in year 1 the children have learnt about the capital cities of the United Kingdom. We focused on the capital city London. A big city with many landmarks, they should be able to name a few. We then looked at local landmarks and ended our topic with a trip to one of them, Chatham Dockyard. We even were able to see another local landmark when standing on a hill at the dockyard. Can you guess which one? That's right, Rochester Castle.

In Science we have been learning all about the four seasons and how weather is recorded and the children even made their own windsocks to check how windy it was.

In history we researched the Great Fire of London and found out how it started, we even learnt a song about the event. As well as all of this the children have been working hard to improve their sentence writing and joined up handwriting.
