Games Day 2021
We are pleased to announce that on receiving the overall placings for the Infant Tri-Golf Competition, hosted by Greenacre sports partnership in term 5, that our Owls class came in 2nd Place!!!!
8 classes were competing, from different schools, so this is a fantastic achievement, well done Owls class.
The results were as follows:
1st Place: Crest Infants - Dolphin Class
2nd Place: St Johns Infants- Owls Class
3rd Place: Crest Infants- Stingray Class
1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive medals shortly, so Owls' class will have something to remind them of their accomplishment.
Tri-Golf takes the children to the golf course: holes, tees, water and the sand bunker. They learnt underarm throwing and how this relates to tri golf, how to play golf without equipment, the basic putting technique and how to use a putter in a game situation using a score card.
Some children took on the extra challenges of chipping a golf ball and using their knowledge and skills within a full round of golf.
On the 8th June we had our day of sport (sports day) where the children participated in a range of activities demonstrating agility and skill.
There were four ‘mixed’ teams – The Kangaroos, Penguins, Cheetahs and Tigers, each headed by a member staff.
Each team completed the activities set out one by one, attempting to collect as many points as possible.
The end results for the day were as follows -
We would like to say congratulations to the ‘Cheetahs’ team for achieving 1st place, however, we would also like to thank all the children for their excellent energy, competitiveness and contributions to the day.
At the end of the day, we also had a chance to complete some class races, during which the children competed against each other, running as fast as they could from one end to the other. Wow we have some super speedy children at St John’s Infant School!
It was a fun day, with some great weather and was supported by Greenacre and every member of staff. We also notice how many parents came out to support and we would like to say a big thank you to you too.
