Owl class

Owl Class thoroughly enjoyed our ‘Land Ahoy!’ topic in Term 4. We learned that the United Kingdom is bordered by the North Sea, the Irish Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, and the English Channel. We also explored different types of boats and ships, including the grand, wooden galleons of history that relied on sails. Our wonderful trip to Chatham Dockyard really enhanced our understanding, allowing us to see remarkable historic ships up close and learn about their past and purposes. We delved into the exciting world of pirates, discovering famous characters like Blackbeard, Edward Teach, and Anne Bonny. In addition, we learned about the courageous Grace Darling and her rescue efforts, as well as the important work of lighthouses and the RNLI in keeping our seas safe. Finally, we looked back at the amazing voyages of famous sea explorers, including Captain James Cook.
