Behaviour at school
At St John's School we have a very simple set of rules that apply to every child in every class. The rules are displayed in each learning space.
Our school rules are:
To flourish and grow:
We stay seated
We listen to each other
We use indoor voices
We are organised for learning
Children who follow the Flourish and Grow rules are rewarded with individual Dojo points on their class digital behaviour system. All classes work towards an end of term treat that is decided by the children - but they have to earn points to participate in it.
Each week in our vision in action worship gathering, we recognise children for flourishing and growing in class (this could be for good work, good attitude or good behaviour) and we award certificates when pupils are credited with 5, 10 and 15 flourish and grow mentions. In addition to the former, in our vision in action Friday worship session we also reward one pupil from each class who has been seen demonstrating the selected value for our school that term. Our school values are faith and love. We concentrate on one school value to look for in the children and to demonstrate ourselves each term.
Staff follow a clear behaviour procedure if our school rules are broken. The procedure is laid out below.
For most pupils in our school these stages are enough. If phase leaders are not in school then children are sent to one of the Co Heads or members of the pupil support team instead.
Al of our rules and worded inclusively and positively as we believe attending school should be an inclusive and positive experience where everyone is safe, has the right to learn and is able to flourish and grow.
