School Council

Our School Council Leader is : Miss Stanley - stas826@mastacademy.co.uk

What is a children’s school council?

Our School Council are a group of children, elected by their class, who meet termly to discuss issues within the school and the world. There are two school councillors from each class- Butterflies, Squirrels and Owls.

For the 2025/ 2026 academic year, our school councillors are:

Butterflies: Alnata and Raihan

Squirrels: Ruby and Tijesu

Owls: Inaya and Mason

We host bi-weekly meetings with Miss Stanley and another member of the school community to discuss how we can support school life moving forward.

We have been elected by our classes and have time in our classrooms, on a bi-weekly basis, to discuss what has happened at meetings and any actions from these.

Why do we have a School Council?

We have a school council to listen to children’s views. We work in partnership with pupils to improve the school. We work in partnership with pupils to improve life experiences for others less fortunate than ourselves either within the school community itself or on a national/ global level. This year we are hoping to develop the role of our councillors so that they have more responsibility around the school and within the wider community.

Exciting Projects for our School Council this year...

At school council meetings so far this year, we have discussed:

- Ideas around how we can raise money for the school and what we would like to raise money for

- How we can be more involved in our classrooms

- How we can be more involved within the wider community, including building strong links with our Church and projects within our local area

- Being more recognised in our school- this is why we have been more involved in act of worships recently. Next term, we will be involved even more regularly in our Friday 'Celebration Act of Worships'

- How we can work with parents, teachers and governors to further enhance the work of our council
