Busy, busy, busy...
As ever, Squirrel class have had a very busy term. We all enjoyed a lovely trip to Wild Woods in Herne where we saw all sorts of amazing animals! Squirrel Class were very brave and walked across the bear enclosure and even saw some wolves up close. It was very interesting to learn about all the different habitats and we had a great sing song on the coach.
On the 9th July we celebrated Rainbow Day in support of the NHS and had lots of fun completing rainbow themed activities. The children all decorated their own rainbow biscuit and coloured in some fantastic rainbow pictures. All of the children made a small donation to wear rainbow clothes; it was great to see some bright outfits!
What have we been learning about this term?
Squirrel class have been working super hard this term and have learnt lots of new skills to take with them into YR 2. In maths, we learnt all about capacity and explored the meaning of key vocab (full, empty, half full, nearly empty) by carrying out different experiments. We have also been learning about mass and used the classroom balancing scales to measure the weight of different items! In our English lessons, we have been exploring 'Pattan's Pumpkin' which tells the tale of a giant pumpkin saving everyone from a flood! The children created their own pumpkin art, wrote newspaper reports and even wrote a letter to Pattan!
