Church of England Infant School

A small school with a big heart, a great place to grow.

Term 3

We have been learning...

In Term 3 we have focused on the topic of animals. We learnt all about the different types of animals and their habitats and had so much fun writing about them, painting them and making collages that we turned into puppets for our small world role-play area.

We also enjoyed learning about different types of pets and how to look after them properly; meeting Mrs Collman's lovely little dog Pickles was a real highlight.

Finally, we had a sneaky visitor in our garden, who started out by eating our carrots and making a mess but then left us some tasty treats to apologise. We never saw him, but after some investigating, we believe it may have been a rabbit!

Phonics and Maths

We are continuing to learn more sounds and diagraphs (‘special friends’) as part of our Read Write Ink programme which is helping us with both our reading and writing skills.

In Maths we count forwards and backwards (sometimes from different starting points) daily up to 20 and have learnt how to find one more and one less than a given number. We have also practiced accurate counting techniques which involves the touch, move count strategy and every morning are writing our numbers neatly to 10 on long bits of paper.
