Term 3

Fire, Fire and Action Heros!

This term, our main Topic was based on The Great Fire of London of 1666.  Instead of  being students, Owl class became historians, bakers, artists and builders.  One of the things we  found out about The Great Fire was that it probably started in a bakery in Pudding Lane.  We had great fun making our own bread rolls and even more fun eating them!  We looked at how the shops and houses were built at the time and designed and build our own homes.  We know so much about the fire because of a man named  Samuel Pepys who wrote all about it in his diary.  We wrote our own diaries and created a great London silhouette skyline.

Our main book in English was a book about an action hero called, 'Traction Man'.  We all loved this book.  We created our own action heroes and wrote about their adventures.  Traction Man was so exciting we decided to write some sequels.  Mrs Brown thinks some of our books that we made are better than the real sequel!

In maths we have learnt different ways of adding and subtracting large numbers.  We have also been practising our times tables and learning how this helps us with division.  Finally, we have learnt more about 2D and 3D shape.
