Church of England Infant School

A small school with a big heart, a great place to grow.

Term 3

We have been learning about...

In English this term we have been looking at the book 'Pattan's Pumpkin', we have learnt lots of new facts about India and explored what a simile is and how to use it in our writing. In Maths we have been exploring number bonds and counting in 2's, 5's and 10's. During Topic we have been looking at the different seasons and what changes happen during each one! We all had fun collecting leaves and designing our own Autumn tree for the classroom! All of the children have continued to work on their phonics throughout the day and have really enjoyed focussing on our YR 1 common exception words.

What Else Happened This Term?

We had lots of fun celebrating Chinese New Year as a class! We wrote our own Chinese New Year senses poem in English and all had a go at writing our names in Chinese. During topic we decorated dragon masks and learnt all about their tradition dancing. The children were lucky enough to participate in a dance workshop and all had fun dancing under the big red dragon! Squirrel Nutkin has had lots of fun at staying at peoples houses for great behaviour and the children are all enjoying our new marble system.
