Term 2

Butterfly Class have had a fantastic second term and have taken part in some great festive activities! Yr R have been learning all about addition and how to add two groups together, they all did a great job. The Yr R children have also been exploring the 'Jack and the Beanstalk' tale, they built their own beanstalks using different materials, wrote their own magic bean wish and even drew their own story map! It has been great to see the children blossoming in the classroom and continuing to form great friendships.

The Yr 1 children have had a great term learning lots of new skills in the classroom- in Maths, we have been consolidating our understanding of addition/subtraction and using our times tables to solve multiplication problems. We refreshed our memories on 2D/3D shapes and used playdough to show what we had learnt. Our Power of Reading story for this term was 'Man on the Moon', we learnt all about space whilst exploring this story and even wrote our own alien fact files!

All of Butterfly Class had a great time participating in this years Christmas Nativity, everyone did a great job learning the songs and it was great to see so many parents attend the performance. All of the children enjoyed the Christmas Crafts afternoon that parents attended, we had lots of fun creating our own wreaths, christingles and tree decorations. Butterfly Class had lots of visits from our Elf, he left a big mess in the classroom and even left the children presents!

I hope everyone has a fantastic break and I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!
