Church of England Infant School

A small school with a big heart, a great place to grow.

Term 2

Space & Christmas

This term we have been busy learning all about space.  We have created stories, postcards and posters about the moon.  We also designed and wrote about our own alien!  Our phonics have really improved this term as we are making great progress with our new Read, Write Inc scheme.  We have taken part in a reading challenge and this has meant that some of us were lucky enough to read book prizes!  We are going to keep reading over the Christmas holiday!

In our maths classes, we have been busy learning multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 times tables.  We need to keep practising these facts so we can speedily solve word problems.

What else happened this Term?

Wow!  What a busy term.  We started celebrating Christmas by going to the Brook Theatre to see the pantomime, "Sammy the Sheep Saves Christmas." We followed this up by putting on a fantastic nativity service at church.  Owl children sang beautifully, acted superbly and impressed everyone with their hard work. We particularly liked singing 'Silent Night' and holding our lit candle christingles.

We really enjoyed creating Christmas decorations, especially as lots of our parents and carers came in to help.
Merry Christmas everyone!
