The Emperor's Egg and Christmas!
Squirrel Class have all worked really hard this term and have produced some fantastic pieces of work! In English, the children focussed on the text 'The Emperor's Egg', we learnt lots about Antarctica and many different interesting facts about Emperor Penguins. The children created their own Antarctic icebergs using cotton wool, they looked great in the classroom! The children also created some fantastic wintery poems in groups, using descriptive words we learnt in class. Once the poems had been written, the children each chose a musical instrument to help them perform their poem to the rest of the class. It was fantastic to hear everyone's poem and great to see amazing teamwork. In maths this term we have been learning how to count in 2's, 5's and 10's and continued to practice our addition/subtraction skills. It has been great to see the children make such good progress this term
And of course, we have done lots of Christmas activities! All of the children enjoyed making snowflakes to decorate the classroom with and we had lots of fun decorating the Squirrel Class Christmas tree. The children made some fantastic Christmas cards for their family and we really enjoyed writing letters to Santa! One of the highlights of this term was the children performing the Nativity story. It was unfortunate that we couldn't do a whole school Nativity performance, so we decided to do one as a class! The children loved dressing up as the different characters and it was great to see everyone remembering the story so well.
