Free School Meal entitlement update 27th April 2020

Free school meals: eligible pupils

The government has issued a notice about the temporary extension of free school meals to include some children of groups who have no recourse to public funds (NRPF).  The notice is the second of three updates and is here. Note that the Zambrano principle is as follows:

If a child of non-EU nationals is granted citizenship in an EU country, then the parents of that child have the right to reside within the EU and do not require work permits.  Not granting these rights to the parents would be depriving the child of the genuine enjoyment of their citizenship rights under Article 20 of Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU).

Dear Parents

The government have given a temporary extension to free school meals which now includes some parents who are not receiving any public fund or if your child is a non-EU national who has been granted citizenship in an EU country.  If you are in these groups and would like to apply please go to:

The government also announced that Aldi has joined the FSM voucher scheme
