Christian Worship

In our last SIAMS inspection we were graded as excellent for the impact of our collective worship. (December 2019)

"High priority is given to collective worship each day as a time to settle and reflect on the school vision. It is highly inclusive, giving respect and dignity to all."  SIAMS December 2019

Our daily school prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank you for this new day, please help us to use it wisely, we are all different and we are all special, Amen

At St John’s we have daily Collective Worship. This is inclusive, invitational and inspiring. It plays a central role in our life and work.

The children sing hymns and songs, have reflection time and say our school prayers daily. This is an important opportunity to strenghten our sense of community, belonging and inclusiveness.

Children are encouraged to write their own prayers and these are read aloud by the children during Collective Worship, displayed in class or in our prayer garden.

Every classroom has a reflection area/table which the children can access when they want.

Woven together; Our school daily prayer includes the line " we are all different and we are all special"

This signifies we are all different but woven together as a school family creating something beautiful.

Successful relationships are the foundation of how a community continues to grow.

Children in each class were asked to comment on Worship and our Vision and Values.

Here are some of their comments taken in Term 2 ;

Q What is your favourite part of Worship?"

"When we always learn stuff"

"The school vision"

"Singing"

"Doing the tambourine"

"Singing the songs"

Q What happens in Worship?

"We sing and Lord's Prayer"

"We sing songs"

"We hear stories"

Overwhelmingly the pupils chose singing as their favourite part of Worship and I can understand why, our lovely children sing beautifully.
